Wapsi Premo Deer Hair

Wapsi Premo Deer Hair is a selected deer-hair patch for spun-and-clipped heads, bodies, and fly wings. The hair can be compressed with thread, spun in bundles, and shaped by trimming so the profile can be matched to the pattern being tied.

Construction and use

Select hair of suitable length and similar structure, then remove the underfur from the tie-in area. Align a bundle by its tips, secure it with loose wraps, and tighten progressively so the fibres spread around the hook shank. Once the material is sufficiently packed, shape the head or body with scissors or a blade, working in stages and checking the symmetry as you go.
