Stonfo Maxi Bobbin
Stonfo Maxi Bobbin is a classic fly-tying bobbin holder designed primarily for larger and wider spools of tying thread. The Maxi designation refers to its longer arms, which provide more room for the spool than the standard version. This is a straightforward arm-tension model without a separate adjustment knob or disc-drag mechanism. Its uncomplicated construction makes spool changes quick and provides direct feedback from the thread while winding.
The thread runs through a stainless-steel tube fitted with special bushes that help reduce fraying caused by contact with the edges of the guide. The smooth thread path supports controlled delivery when forming successive wraps, ribs and fly heads. The larger frame is intended to accommodate wider spools; the Maxi construction alone does not indicate an adjustable drag system or suitability for every heavy material.
Before tying, seat the spool between the arms and check that it turns smoothly with light, even resistance. If the pressure is too low or too high, make a gentle correction to the spacing of the arms and avoid abrupt bending. A separate Stonfo bobbin threader can be used to draw the tying thread through the tube.
