Rio Fluoroflex Plus Tippet
RIO Fluoroflex Plus Tippet is a 100% fluorocarbon tippet material intended for forming the final, fine section of a fly-fishing leader. Its low visibility in water makes it a useful choice when fish are wary or a discreet connection to the fly is important. It may be used to build a leader or added to the end of a tapered leader.
The material combines a fine diameter with useful strength: as a stated example, the 5X version has a breaking strain of 5 lb, approximately 2.5 kg. Fluoroflex Plus is also supple enough to form neat knots and can be joined to both fluorocarbon and nylon tippet. Careful knot tying and steady tightening help create a secure, well-seated connection.
Choose the X size with the fly, target species, water conditions and the rest of the leader in mind. Finer sizes assist delicate presentation and suit smaller flies, while heavier diameters provide more security when playing stronger fish or fishing near obstructions. Moisten each knot before drawing it down, trim the tag end carefully and test the finished joint under steady pressure before casting.
