Dr Slick Titanium Bobbin
Dr Slick Titanium Bobbin is a conventional fly-tying bobbin holder with thread guided through two funnel-shaped titanium oxide inserts. Their rounded profile provides a gradual path into and out of the tube, including while the tool is rotated around the hook. This reduces abrupt contact with straight tube edges and supports smooth placement of successive thread wraps.
The spool is held by Delrin feet mounted on spring arms. This construction produces standard tension through arm pressure, without a dial, slider or disc-drag mechanism. The smooth feet help the spool turn evenly, while the actual resistance depends on spool fit and arm setting. The bobbin is available with 3.0 in and 4.0 in frame lengths: the shorter version keeps the hand closer to the hook, while the longer version provides additional working reach.
Before tying, seat the spool squarely between the feet and check that it turns without sticking or overrunning. If the resistance needs correction, bend the spring arms inward or outward gently and symmetrically. A small change in pressure is usually sufficient. Frame length affects hand position and access to the fly; it does not change the type of tension system.
