Dr Slick Gold Loops Forceps
Dr Slick Gold Loops Forceps are traditional fishing clamps made for accurate streamside work. They provide a controlled grip when removing a hook from a fish, flattening a barb or closing split shot. The straight jaws are easy to position around a fly, while the ratchet lock maintains the selected pressure without requiring the handles to be squeezed continuously.
The jaws are half smooth and half striated. The smooth section provides a suitable surface for crushing barbs, while the textured section gives a firmer hold on hooks and small items of tackle. Gold finger loops give this range its distinctive finish. The clamps are manufactured from 410 Japanese stainless steel with a Rockwell hardness of 42.
The family includes 4, 5 and 6-inch lengths. A shorter clamp is more manageable with small flies and fine tackle, whereas a longer version offers additional reach and leverage for larger hooks. After fishing, rinse the tool in clean water and dry it thoroughly. This is particularly important after saltwater use; occasional application of a small amount of oil to the joint and ratchet will also help maintain smooth operation.
