Dr Slick 5 Barb Plier
Dr Slick 5 Barb Plier is a spring-loaded pair of fishing pliers designed primarily for crushing hook barbs. Its strong, smooth jaws apply controlled pressure to the barb, making the tool useful both at the tying bench and beside the water. It is suitable for preparing hooks used in freshwater and saltwater fishing.
Measuring 5 inches (12.7 cm), the pliers have straight jaws and green PVC-covered handles. The spring-loaded action reopens the jaws when pressure is released, allowing convenient one-handed operation. Smooth working surfaces are particularly well suited to flattening barbs rather than merely gripping the hook.
The Dr Slick Barb Plier can also assist with controlled hook removal from a fish. A flexible lanyard with a full-swivel connection is included to help secure the tool and keep it readily accessible on a vest or pack. After saltwater use, rinse the pliers in fresh water, dry them thoroughly and occasionally apply a small amount of oil to the joint.
